Church History

In September 2016, Pastors Alfred and Jo Ann Holston relocated to Atlanta from the Washington, D.C. area after faithfully serving as Elders at the Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church under the leadership of Bishop Alfred A. Owens and Co-Pastor Susie C. Owens. After relocating, the Holstons began conducting a Discipleship curriculum in their home and at Abiding Community Church in Snellville, Georgia. After much prayer and supplication before the Lord, in the Fall of 2017, the Lord laid it upon Pastor Alfred’s spirit to begin a church ministry that would focus on spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ; teaching and discipling Christians and serving members of the community at their point of need. For over 15 years, both Pastors had already ministered throughout the State of Georgia through Hope XPress, Inc. a certified 501c3 entity. After seeking the Lord for a Vision and Mission for the ministry, through the diligent work of a few dedicated souls, Hope XPress Community Church was founded on the Vision and Mission that guides the work that we do for the Lord. It’s significant to note that it was through Ashley Dixon and Michael Holston that the Lord gave us our name. Renee Bentley worked diligently with the Pastors to assist in developing our strategic and annual plans.

What We Believe

Pastors Alfred and Jo Ann strongly believed that the business of the church should be operated properly and in compliance with all federal, state and local laws. As a result, the services of StartChurch, Inc. were procured to assist in preparing all the papers, policies and procedures necessary for being incorporated in the state of Georgia and to gain federal 501c3 status for the church and for Hope Empowerment Network (our operating Community Development Corporation). As a result, Hope XPressCommunity Church and all its entities operates on a solid legal foundation.

The inaugural service of the church was held on September 16, 2018 in the Regal Tara Theatre, 2345 Cheshire Bridge Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. The Pastors were inspired by Lord to choose this location for ministry because it is a diverse community and fertile ground for developing the beloved community. It is what the Apostle Paul would declare as the Market Place for our Faith. Since founding Hope XPress Community Church, the Pastors have established effective ministry partnerships to leverage its ability to serve the community. Currently, the church partners with the Toco Hill Community Alliance; the Cheshire Bridge Road Senior Highrise Community; and Liberty Baptist Church and Atlanta West Pentecostal Church.

Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, the goal of Pastors Alfred and Jo Ann is to continue to reach out and fellowship with other churches and entities across the Globe, seeking ways that we can work together to let the name of Jesus be known in all the earth!

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
