What We Believe

We believe that the goal of the church is to disciple men, women, and children to follow Jesus Christ and reach their fullest potential

God

We believe in the triune God existing in three equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of the universe and is infinite, immutable, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever present, and is not limited by time or space.

Jesus

Jesus is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for sin through the shedding of His blood. He was fully God and fully human. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. At a date undisclosed in Scripture, Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth in power and glory for the second time to establish His Kingdom.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is given to every follower of Christ as the promised Comforter, to guide, comfort, convict, and adopt us into the family of God. He helps us grow into Christ-likeness by producing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and He gives us spiritual gifts to empower us to meet the needs of God’s people and a hurting world.

Salvation

God created us in His image as the Apple of His Eye. Though we were created to commune with Him and be His representative on earth, we failed God through disobedience and sin. However, because of the love He had for us, God sent Jesus to redeem from the penalty of sin all who would believe in Him. The sacrificial redemptive work of Jesus Christ is the only way through which salvation and communion with God can be obtained.

The Bible

The Holy Bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God. It is transcendent, historical, reliable, true, and trustworthy. The Bible was written by men, divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to humanity. It alone is the final authority in determining doctrinal truths. It reveals the principles by which God expects us to govern our lives.

Discipleship

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ to become a disciple-maker, endeavoring to make disciples of all nations. To honor this great commission, one must first become a true disciple of Jesus Christ and grow in grace, wisdom and obedience. The new birth of our spirit by God’s Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary efforts on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of a regenerate life and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness and wholesome Godly relationships undergirded by a Christian lifestyle, and by other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ.

About Service To Others

As believers, we are instructed by Scripture to love one another as we love ourselves. We are further told that Jesus will reward those who care for those on the margin of society, such as the homeless, the widow, the naked, the elderly, the diseased, and those in prison. We believe that our faith must be demonstrative in love and action. Love is not just what you say, but what you do. At Hope XPress Community Church, we will devote a large portion of our time, talent, and treasures in service to others as we minister the gospel of Jesus Christ to them.

The Family

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composted of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.
